Fun Spelling practice ideas

  • Use letter beads and string them on to a pipe cleaner

  • Spell the words out in chalk in different shapes (rainbow, flower, sun, etc.)

  • Use magnetic Alphabet letters on on a cookie sheet! (Ask Mrs. Hemmert if you can borrow one of her sets!)

  • Messy alert: Spread shaving cream, whipped cream or pudding on the table and use your finger to write your words!

  • Write in puffy paint. Find an easy, DIY puffy paint recipe here

  • Type the spelling words on a keyboard (real keyboard, or print a paper keyboard to practice on)

  • Use unexpected objects to spell out the words (like Cheerios!)

  • Write them on the window! Use these washable window Crayolas

  • Letter jumping: With chalk on your driveway, write out all the letters in the alphabet. Then tell your child the word and watch them hop from letter to letter, spelling it out!

  • Play hangman with the words

  • Spelling Training is a cute, free website where you can import the list and your child can listen to the word, and play games with them.

Fun Math sites

  • Math Games is a free site your child can play math games on. There are ads before you play, but you can subscribe and that gets rid of them. (My favorite game on here is the Math Slither!)

  • Boddle

  • Prodigy
